Based on a study conducted in 2015[1], skipping breakfast causes blood glucose (or sugar) to spike and drop significantly. Skipping breakfast has a negative effect on the way your body metabolizes glucose throughout the day, compared to having a meal for breakfast (as shown by the graph to the left).
Not only is it important to have breakfast but what we have matters too. A good quality protein breakfast helps manage hunger pangs later during the day and reduce sugar cravings[2]. Good quality protein and high fibre combination breakfasts also has positive effects on insulin levels. Whey protein has been found to have positive effects on glycaemic levels and management of hunger.
